New UK Visa Option World's Top Graduates
The UK has introduced a new visa option for graduates of top universities globally. This visa is suitable for those graduates who have just stepped foot in the market and are “high potential individuals.” The visa route is, for the same reason, called the high potential individual visa. As a result of fresh talent coming to the UK, the brightest graduates will influence the job market in the UK.
This visa route will be accessible for those who have just graduated from top universities in the world. The list of universities whose graduates are eligible to reply has been posted. The “high potential individual” visa will be available only to those who have graduated from the aforementioned universities in the past five years.
The visa route is available for Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate graduates. For individuals who have completed either their Bachelor’s or Master’s, the duration of the High Potential Individual Visa would be two years. On the other hand, the individuals having completed their PhD will be granted a visa for three years.
An advantage of the newly introduced visa route is that individuals born in any country can apply for it, given that they have graduated from the eligible universities. Moreover, for the High Potential Individual Visa, there is no job offer required. So, if you have freshly graduated from one of the institutions mentioned, you can get the visa regardless of whether you have a job offer or not. In this way, individuals are free to apply for jobs once they have attained the visa and have come to the UK.
The application process is online; several documents are required to prove your identity. Once you have submitted the application and attached the required documents, you will get the decision in three weeks if you are outside of the UK. If you are residing in the UK, the decision will be made in eight weeks. You may be asked to allow extra time for the processing of your visa if it is required.
The main costs associated with the visa are the application fees and the healthcare surcharge. The healthcare surcharge makes you eligible to use the services of the National Health Services. Moreover, you will need to prove that you have enough personal savings. The minimum requirement for savings is £1,270, with exceptions.
As long as the language requirements are concerned, the individuals will need to have at least a B1 level of English. The B1 level of English indicates that you are able to communicate with the locals without having to put in a lot of effort.
With an HPI visa, you can live in the UK and work in most jobs. You can be self- employed and, if eligible, live in the UK with your partner and your children. Moreover, you can do voluntary work. You can even travel abroad and then return to the UK during your visit. You cannot, however, apply for the state pension or the public funds. Moreover, you cannot apply to settle permanently in the UK, and you cannot work as a professional sportsperson. With an HPI visa, you can study only if your course is not eligible for a Student Visa. If the course you are interested in is eligible for a student visa, you won’t be able to study it with an HPI visa.
