Tips for Writing a COVERING LETTER for a VISIT VISA Application

While applying for a visit visa, you may have a Covering letter because there’s always some information and/or important points that are not otherwise disclosed to the visa officer. Hence, a Covering letter serves this purpose and here we explain how you can help yourself with it. Covering letters should always be addressed to the Embassy or consulate of the country you are visiting. You must assure the Consular staff that you are suitable to receive a visa for the country you are applying for. Now as the majority of the Embassy use Gerry’s/FedEx/Visatronix/VFS service to collect the documents, you don’t get a chance to talk to the visa officer directly, the only way of communication is a Covering letter that’s why it is highly recommended to write a good Covering letter to allow the visa officer to make a well-informed decision based on the documents and information you provide.

What Information to Include in a Covering Letter for Visa Application?

When you are drafting a Covering letter for your visa application you have to write about the details of your entire trip that include:

Purpose of your travel

You have to outline the reason why you want to travel to a specific country for example for tourism purposes, Business purposes, or medical reasons. To make it stronger you can attach your travel documents including your Return Tickets and Hotel Reservation.

Proof of how you will fund your trip (own funds or sponsor)

You must prove that you are able to sponsor your trip by attaching six months bank statement. You can also attach your latest Tax Return If you are a filer and all your property documents as proof that you are financially stable to fund yourself.

Sponsor by someone

If you have a sponsor, make sure you explain your personal relationship with your sponsor and the reason why they will be sponsoring your trip in your cover letter.

If you cannot submit any of the required documents, write about the reasons why you cannot submit and explain alternative documents that you may have submitted.

Intention to Return

This is the most important point to be discussed in a cover letter. Most visas are rejected due to the reason the Visa officer don’t find any intention of the candidate to return to the home country. You must write about the reasons which will indicate that your intention to return for example Family ties, business if any, Job, or property in your home country. You can also write a separate letter of intent to explain your ties to your home country.
